OPAS was designed by a consultant orthodontist (Joe Noar) with a view to achieve the following aims:
- Collect as little information as is needed
- The software must fit into the way you work - not the other way around!
- Require data entry/update only at milestone visits (consult, start of treatment, new appliance etc)
- Provide time saving benefits (eg Waiting List management, reports, letters etc)
In this way the application can easily slot into your department and your way of working.
Features
- Only 'milestone' patient visits require data entry.
- After the consultation, the secretaries could enter the data and diagnosis and then print letters automatically to the referrer (so the secretaries gain something too).
- Data could be collected at the chair-side on specially designed (but customisable) 'data-sheets' that are then used by the administration staff to enter the data.
- Most of the data entered using 'tick boxes' and 'pull down options' to ensure speed and accuracy.
- Rapid creation of reports to satisfy any management enquiries quickly and efficiently.
- Waiting list management. You can create a highly customised priority system if you wish. The waiting list can be printed out or viewed on-screen to answer quick telephone enquiries.
- Waiting list analysis. This enables you to monitor if you are 'falling behind' or catching up.
- Case-mix analysis. This is useful for monitoring trainee activity.
- 18-week rule enforcement to ensure patients are seen within target times.
- Many other features as well!
